sealer used when installing windshield and back glass

As I stated what sealer have members used when installing the front and rear glass?

Any tips/tricks to install the windows?

I did a front recently and I bought that tool for putting the rope around the lip, its totally worth it.
I knew I would be removing my glass for paint in the future so i used red rubber grease (for some reason not too common anymore) but a little goes a long way.  This creates a wet seal. but I'll be using that same 3M stuff later on.

I would say for the front. make sure to have any trim that goes on the the rubber set up on it, also sometimes you have to add some blue tape across from side to side on the glass to hold the rubber on stubborn spots. but remove as your are putting on the body.

As it goes in- check the side to side on the rear lower corners, that is where it is difficult to move without throwing it all off. I would suggest some of those wipe board markers or wine markers to make the center of the top and bottom and the maybe tape and mark the center on your car, it may help for when you are initial starting the installation.   

I also bought those suction handles. they do help some but the front is so curve that they have a hard time sticking on. but to help with giving you the ability to pull a little bit

one thing I did get and checked on the board here is there a very slight pucker that forms on some rubbers at the bottom dogleg corner. I was able to move my seal to minimize it, I think some people shoot some more sealant in it and call it day. I believe the trim help push it together.

I would recommend the plastic  trim tools, the not too pointy ones to work out the rubbers as it sometimes wants to move or roll in the worn direction.

As Abe mentioned, post 17 for the adhesives/sealants, but the first two pages of my build thread talk about different details of the glass install. The strip caulk, btw, worked well. I saw that tip on a YouTube video installing glass into a Chevy, but they're almost exactly the same as Fords anyways. I was particularly interested in the strip caulking because of the back glass. In the back, the headliner wraps around the mounting flange for the glass. My headliner is a light colored brushed cotton-like fabric, so I definitely didn't want any runny sealants bleeding onto the fabric.......there is no garnish rail mounling/trim on the back window..you just need a nice clean install.

Kinda funny, don't know if I'm really lucky, really good or just out in the dark.  I have not used any sealer on the five cars I have built.  I guess my efforts to have the pinch weld perfectly smooth, lubing the rubber well with 409 or similar product and working slowly to make sure the glass is setting down as it should have done the trick.

One thing I noticed while doing this stuff is the pinch weld was never "smoothed" out when the car was produced.  Flapper to get the edges even, a little filler to close up the "dimples" caused by the spot welder and then paint on both sides of the pinch.  I know, a little anal but it has worked.

Mind you, the cars have been driven in rain, some heavy, have set out in rain while at a show but never in a severe, heavy driving rain.

I totally for got to mention also, make sure to complete clean the opening, if its the original seal, you have a ton of the Ford waxy seal that was in there, some hot soapy water and then lacquer thinner will clean it up. I like the idea of cleaning up the pinch weld. 

I did put the rear in dry on min and it leaked, is leaking, that why I didnt mention it, I think it didnt seal well.  I think the wet seal or straigh 3M caulking is the best bet. but again do me prepared to clean or mask off areas of the headliner with 2" blue tape, so if that gets dirty, then you just remove when you are done setting the seal.

Removed my rear glass about four years ago for a new headliner, reinstalled with a new seal didn't put anything on it and has new er leaked a drop.
