Supercharger!   The fact that Fords could be ordered with a blower should be enough to prove the Ford was better in '57.  Not to mention 9'Rear Ends, Holley Carbs, a 3 speed automatic trans, etc.

Nascar knew that the Ford might make the chebies look bad on the track, that is why the outlawed the Blowers and Factory invovment.

Was heading to Poconos for my 25th wedding anniversary in my 57 Fairlane Club Sedan. Tuned in to CB trucker channel. A trucker chimed in "hey, look at the 55 Chevy". I had to come back at him and ask how old he was. I think he said 20s or 30s. My reply, "No wonder you don't know the difference between a 55 Chevy and a 57 Ford". By the way we were at the same honeymoon resort 25 yrs. earlier in a 57 Fairlane Club Victoria.

Hi guys, One thing I would like to share with you There was a guy in our town who loved to have a laugh his favourite trick was to buy a 55 56 or 57 Chevy and put a y block in it. He would attend a car show and lift the hood for everyone to see, some of the comments were priceless, His best come back line was what do you mean its not a chev motor the distributor is in the back of the engine. A lot of the ford guys used to hang around just for the entertainment value.
