Guy's,
How many times have people asked you if your car was a 57 chevy? It is as if no one else made a car in that year! I swear the next time I see a 57 chevy, I'm going to ask them if it is a FORD! Sorry just venting.
Thanks,

Yes, I have been asked that a few times.  And I couldn't begin to guess how many times my '57 Ranchero has been called an el camino.  Once at an all Ford drag race a guy called me a traitor, with the chev engine in my '57.  He said no Ford engine had two exhaust ports together in the center.  I don't think I convinced him otherwise.

John,
I remember as a kid the 57 chevy became wildly popular. At the time my Dad had a 55 crown vic. I asked him why he didn't own a chevy, I remember him smileing and telling me of all the chevy's he tore through with his 57 Ford in college, he said besides, the more popular they get the more Fords that will be available to him to own in the futiure! What a wise Man!
Thanks,

Had the same experiences as John. My 79 Ranchero has been called el camino numerous times. El Ranchero is always classic. And although I've never heard my 57 being called a Chevy people are all over the board on what year it is. But the one that gets me is the guys at the Ford dealer I worked at had no idea that Ford built an engine w/the distributor in the back.

I've had people tell me "Cool Bel Air" a lot...I just tell 'em it's not a Chevy pal, and shake my head...

I just agree with them and talk about how beautiful the lines of the car are. After a short while the brighter ones realise they have been had. With almost 40 years of owning it,it is some of the best sport talk'n that can be had.

reminds me of the time a guy came up to me when I was trailering it to Colorado, and said "I really like your car, man. I had one just like it. What is it?"

Not five minutes ago someone asked me what year my Bel Air was! I walked away.
Thanks

haha. I love these stories. I only had one guy say it was a Chevy. I corrected him immediately. But I have had lots ask me what year is it, when we are standing right in front of the front plate that says 1957. lol.

My red/white two tone Custom Sedan was constantly being mistakin for a chebie.   I guess the white upper quarters and top with red has the same look as a '55 chebrolate.

For some reason everybody knows my black sedan is a FORD.  Many call it a Fairlane which is close enough, and I just anser yeah as it is to close to argue with when Belly Air is the other option.

I always leave the "F O R D" letters on the nose to help idiot proof brand identification.  I have Year Of Make(YOM) "57 Texas Tags to help them figure out the year.

I also like to add to people the Ford out sold the Chevy back then too. They are more than surprised.
