No problem!

The pulley is not connected to the handle shaft. Think of the handle shaft fitting into a bracket that mounts to the firewall and dash. The bracket has a long slotted tube and a pulley that is attached to it. The handle shaft slides in and out of the slotted tube and has a cable connected to the end of it. To disconnect the cable you pull the handle shaft all of the way out. To do that you must remove the pressed in pin. The pulley is not involved.

The pin everyone is talking about is shown in the second photo sticking straight up from the main tube just before the pulley at the firewall. That is pressed into the shaft, rides in a slot on top of the tube. It must be removed to get the shaft out of the tube. The shaft has a recess in the end just before the pulley and that's where the cable ball end is attached. I hope I'm remembering all this correctly. Also, I think the pulley must be removed in order to bring the cable up to the shaft.

1 last question,    ,the cable from the release handle,  can I buy 1,  or do I make it   up?,   thanks  for all  the info guys,  Jerry

The pin that we are talking about is on the tube that is mounted under the dash with the brake handle attached. The handle is attached to a rod that slides inside that tube. If you look at the tube there is a slot that runs the length of the tube. The pin goes into that slot and is pressed into the rod that is inside it. This pin keeps the rod from twisting so the brake handle stays in the proper location and does not rotate or spin. It also holds the brake in the locked position when you apply the E brake. You must remove this pin to install a new cable. Jerry
