steering wheel

2 years ago i painted the steering wheel,  used a good enamel with hardener,  and it chips big time,   any other way of finishing it?

Did you prime and sand and prime it first? Was it a color change, meaning you had to put on a heavy coat?

didn't prime it, but did sand it,   same color,  not a heavy coat,  and i think it was 2 coats one, then while it was still tacky.

I did mine 3 or 4 yrs ago. Polyester primer with polyurethane paint, Still looks good' This was over
JB Weld that I fixed the cracks with.
