My new engine

Well I made the 550 mile round trip to Detroit on Saturday to pick up the engine and extra parts I bought on the fordfe board. The pictures of most of the parts are here

You scored a lot of nice fe stuff there. That stuff is getting harder and harder to find around here. I ran them
for many years. Are those aluminum or steel rocker stands? I suppose you put plugs in the holes that used to feed the Hyd lifters. Looks like a fun project.

The stands are aluminum, the shafts and rockers are new. I already have a new set of shafts and rockers with billit stands and spacers that I'll be useing. The plugs were put in the oil galleries when the block was machined and I have a set of .060 jets for the heads. That should take care of the oil problems.

Nice stuff,
We never slowed the oil down to the shafts. Didn't know it needed it. My old 390 in the 70,s had the
Ford 500/324 cam in it with inline 500 cfm quads. Ran so consistant hardly ever lost a bracket race.
It was dead on 1270-71 and 105 every pass. Sure made for easy dial in. It also lasted forever with just
occasional freshening.
