I ran across a very weird serial number on a 57 2 dr hardtop.

Called several pals that have played with 57's for years.
One friend told me he had seen one like this quite a number of years ago, never could get it deciphered himself though, just guess's from people.
I did find a denotation saying it was a special engine in one book, but it was not in the column for 57's ???

D7MV-107121.
Yes, there is a dash on the serial number plate as displayed above, never seen one like it.

The 107121 should make it the 7121 th car off the assembly line for 57 production.

The dates/codes on the serial number plate are; 17K9008P

The factory paint is still on the car, the 2 colors are uncommon to a 57 also.

Can anyone determine what the factory engine was, it is motorless at this time?

Thanks guys,
John

Canadian-ranchero,
Duh, I screwed up, did not have my thinking cap on, forgot the pre 60 cars had them as first number.

Do so thank you for setting my mind straight.

Do you think this car was built in the first 10 days or so of production, 7121 off the line?

Zapato: will go look at the codes and post later.

Thanks,
John
