hello guys ,

i'm rico from Rotterdam in Holland.

i want to swap my six for a v8 .

but iff it's possible i want to keep the original fordomatic tranny for cruising .

wich ford v8 engine will fit on the fordomatic and in the 70A without to much modifying?

i know that the 70A's originally came with the mileage maker slant six and different v8's.
but i need the sound and torque and power of a v8!

i have the option to purchase a pre oil crisis 460 from a 69 lincoln for a fair price ,but i think that's to much work to put it nicely in my 70A.
it would be the coolest option to put a 460 big block in my 70A ,but to keep in mind that here in holland , to do a engine swap like this is very hard, because we don't have custom shops and to much people with the knowledge to do this kind off stuff ...

i was born in the wrong country !! :002:

thanx already

If you want to keep the FOM you will have to use a y-block. Crites restorations makes a swap kit for 429-460
engines, headers, motor mounts, etc, but you will have to use a c-6 or something equivalent.

My car had a Fordo for yrs hooked to a FE mtr. I think all it took
was a diff. convertor. At that time it was an F-1 convertor.
I've always used mounts for a 352 in a 58 Ford. You'll have to
use the flat exhaust manifolds or custom headers and get the outlets
changed on the radiator.I think that's all it takes if I remember
right. That was in the 60's! Any 332, 352, 390 427 or 428 should
work.

I was collecting 460's for my 57, I had an efi and a carburated engine. When gas went to 4.50 a gallon I got nervous and sold them. One thing I liked was the 460 line was narrow on top compared to an FE engine, I think Ron use to run one, maybe he could comment on header options. Good Luck!   Mark

Yes, I used to run fe's for many years. They fit better that the 429/460
for sure. I have a 429 in mine now. I love it, but is BIG! It's
not possible to remove the pan with engine in car no matter what
you try.If you have stock chassis and steering anyway. I'd go with
the fe mtr for sure, unless you already have a y block :unitedstates:
