RICH MUISE

welcome..glad you joined. Interesting name on you hometown. "end of road", Idaho. as well as I know alot of Idaho it sounds like a great place. I thought seriously about moving to Cor D'laine (SP?) or Sandpoint(almost bought an art gallery there)....One of the prettiest areas in the country.
Gas tank...  Concours lists a ranch wagon gas tank in their catalog  $450.00
I can do this, I can do this, I, well, maybe

Thanks Rich, will look they are proud of that tank.
Yeah Called Culdesac because it is where the railroad ended in the day then in 1911 they built several tresstles and tunnels to make the grade. You might remember the old movie Breakheart pass with Bronson, was filmed there. Lived in Elpaso as a kid.

I thought it was a little pricey also. Grab a Hemmings...it seems like there was an ad from a place specializing in tanks at one time...you may be able to find one a little cheaper. Just remembered..I believe you can search last months ads in hemmings online. www.hemmings.com

I am of the opinion that the 450 is a bargin.  Two things really pxxx me off one the road, fuel and cooling problems.  As far as money spent on a car/hot rod both of those come in a close second to the brake system and steering systems.  When a project gets past the planning stages and the build actually starts the tank and radiator are off to the radiator shop for dipping and repair.

Having said that, it looks like a rear tank from the F150 series will fit with the stock well cut out.  The fill is on the correct side to make the stock gas door hook up and building the mount for it is fairly simple.

Have completed the preliminary measurements and six-pack engineering, need the weather to break so I can start.  Let you guys know how it works out in the end...

They were not reproducing the tanks for Ranchero or Wagon when I built mine this time. I spent more than that on redoing this one. By
the time it was repaired, coated and a 3/8" pickup installed it was
more that a new one for sure. :unitedstates:
BTW, welcome aboard :006:

Just received the March street rodder, second last page has an add for Bob Drake reproductions. He has a new tank for rancheros, wagons, and sedan delivery for$425. He also has the sedan and hardtop tanks for $325,including straps. If you guys don't get street rodder, I highly recommend it. Chock full of good tech stuff and how to articles, Quite a bit of ford stuff. A few months back they whacked the front stub off of a 55 tudor wagon, and put on a modern one.   Mark

I just bought anther one of the repo Ranchero/Wagon tanks for a customers Ranchero.   I was really glad a few years ago when the took the effort to make them, as we have had a real need for them.   Thay may be more than some other tanks, but they are worth the money.  One note is we had a little problem with the size of the hole on the filler neck on one we purchased when they first came out, but it was easy to correct.   Again, we need to support those that take the effort and make the investment to make stuff for our cars.
