Thanks, I checked McMasters and several other fastener suppliers and they all carry 5/16-18 (coarse thread) only.  The 5/16-24 x 1 inch fit the tailgate hinges on a Ranchero.  I suppose I could cut the striker plate machine screws (1 1/2 " long) that are readily available from all of the classic Ford suppliers.  Thanks.
