I checked with James, and he thought it would be a good idea. I started a board in the supplier links section for salvage yards known to have '57 ford cars and parts. I was going to add it at the bottom of our website links, but hopefully it'll get big enough quickly to warrant it's own  board.
I was thinking the best way to list them is alphabetically by state or province. If anyone has any ideas for doing this..throw them at me please.
I'm sure alot of the members here have info on yards they've been to or have heard about....reply to this post here with any info you have and I'll add it to the list. We'll need Names, addresses, phone #'s, website or email info, and any info you may want to input.
The board is called "57 Ford salvage Yard info.
James...could you pin it to the top like our links board?
I can do this, I can do this, I, well, maybe

Rich, haven't seen any 57s in yards for some time but do know of a guy that buys and parts 57s and at times 58s nothing else. He's reasonable price wise but he does know his market. Should his info go in this spot or not?

Zap...I would think any consistant source of a quantity of used '57 (or nos) parts would go in this section. Imho we should just avoid the guys that occasionally may have a part or two to keep the list from being cumbersome and inaffective. Somebody, like you mentioned, that frequently parts out '57's would be great as far as I'm concerned, after all the whole point is a list of good souces for used '57 parts
Just for the record, this isn't my list, it is our list...what you guys want and what is ok with James is what it'll be. The only reason I offer to do it is I know the only way to keep it together in one spot, like our website links, is for one person to do it because the one that starts the post is the only one (other than the administrators) that can edit or add to it.
I think there are some guys on this website as members that always seem to have '57 parts also. If James wishes to keep it to commercial salvage yards...I'll have to let him chime in on that.   Rich

Rich & James:

Steve Pierce was a tow truck operator for many years following his return from Viet Nam.  Every chance he had to get a hold of a 57 Ford he took advantage of.  When I first started working on my 57, back in 1998, he waslocated in the South Gate/Lynwood area of LA.  He had his home with a very large lot housing a number of running 57's and a bunch of large shipping containers, full of 57 parts.  He also had a couple of storage yards where he stored a large number of vehicles he'd acquired over the years.  Eventually he was forced to move his home and acquisitions out to Twenty Nine Palms, CA.  His "new" place is located near the Joshua Tree National Forest in the foothills above Palm Springs.  Needless to say it is a very dry area and a great place to store vehicles for long times without the dreaded "Rust Demon." He loves his 57's and is an interesting guy.

In 2007, when I was trying to get a bunch of the local 57 Ford owners in Southern Calif. to go to the Knott's Show, Steve loaned Rick and I one of his 57's (no cost, just let us have it for a week) it was a movie Police Car and it was a big hit at both the Seal Beach Show and the Knott's Berry Farm Show.  Both Rick and I have purchased a number of parts from Steve, usually the harder to find ones.  His prices have not been unreasonable.  But his stocks of cars and parts is definitely getting smaller.

He would indeed be a good one to add to our list of resources.

Bob...Steve definetly sounds like someone we should be supporting. I like the Nam vet part. He's already been put on the list...I'll add some details and notes later tonight.
Thanks for the Info guys, this is exactly what we need.
Alex:...do I remember you saying you had a friend pick up some parts at a salvage yard on the right coast somewhere?

Guys...I'm going to bring this post up top every once and a while so it gets read by members that may have missed it. So far we only have 5 yards/individuals on the list...I know '57's in salvage yards are gettin' scarce but there's got to be a lot more than 5 sources. Anyone else know of any?

Rich:

Another California 57 Ford parts salvage supplier is Charles "Bud" Kolar.  He is located in Hesperia, CA, 92345, which is another high desert type location (very dry).  I've bought several parts from Bud and they have worked out very well.  I've never been to his location, so I don't know how extensive his 57 parts & cars is.  His email address is 57kolar@mail.com.
