won't start

hi all, need some help,   until i get all the bugs out i'll b asking alot of questions.    right now i can't get the car started,  when i go to start it it will start right up but then it dies as fast,   i've checked the fuel pump via the glass jar way and the pump seems to b working fine,   where should i go now, (& b polite),    thanks for any info you might have,      2 deuces

Check your ballast resistor between ign switch and coil should have about 7 to 8 volts going to coil.

problem solved,   turns out it was a lose wire  to the balist resistor, or the thing on top of the block and intake, has a bunch of holes in it, so i'm not sure what it is yet,  but it had wires going to the electric choke from the dist, thanks for a direction to go,
