Well we made good progress today.  We pulled the motor from the Mustang and set it in the 57.  I used a front sump polished and finned aluminum pan from Cal Customs.  Motor mounts were 75 Ford F100 2wd 302. I need to make some 1/4" or 3/8" spacers under the pads.  My trans mount had already been modified for a C-6 so it clears the AOD pan but will need a new bracket welded on.  Stock 89 Mustang tubular headers clear the manual steering box.  The firewall clearance, pan to crossmember clearance, and transmission tunnel all look great.  It will of course get pulled out again and detailed but I wanted to mock everything up first.  Finally feel like we are making a little progress.  It sits way high in the front still may need some different springs.  Here are some pics.  Mike  http://www.flickr.com/photos/512fairlane/sets/72157629303741382/

I made some 1/4" spacers today for the 75 Ford F100 motor mounts.  The angle of the mount to the frame mount is still not perfect.  I thought spacing them up a little might help but its not quite there.  I may have to taper the spacer plates slightly to get them to seat flat.  They bolt up and will probably work fine like they are but there is a bit of a gap at the top.
