If it won't fit, force it.
If it breaks, it needed replacing anyway.

No injuries other than emotional. A bee flew in the driver's window. My daughter was the driver. My 57 was parked in front of the house, she was slowing to turn in the driveway. 2011 Ford Escape, airbag did not deploy, so she must have been going rather slow.

   Damn!  That is sad.
Is your daughter still alive?
Sorry, couldn't resist.    She must feel pretty bad about it.

She feels worse than I do. She is flesh and blood, the car is just metal, glass and rubber.

Sad to see, glad she's ok and your priorities are 100% perfect.  My daughter came home one night years ago with some body damage on my truck. Ruined a bit of custom paint and slight sheetmetal damage. Not a scratch or bruise on her. But did she feel lousy, me just glad she came home clean.  As you know cars can be fixed daughters are impossible to replace.

OUCH...It seems like it should be your daughter's insurance that covers it and shouldn't matter if your '57 was underinsured. Glad she is ok.

Forgot to mention...The pic you posted with the hood opened in the back I belive is exactly the reason Ford stopped using the front hinged hood. Can you imagine where that hood would have ended up if it had been a higher speed impact, particularly if it had been hit by a higher off the ground 4x4?

That is too bad.  I know how she feels, ditched my dad's car the same day my permanent drivers license came in the mail.....handed it to him when he came to pick me up.  Got the car out, he handed it back and asked if I learned anything then told me to take it home.
