I have a dual point Mallory yc zc distributor in mine right now and am also looking to remove it and change it to an electronic ignition.  I was looking at a Mallory Series 37 due to the MSD needing fabrication to the firewall to make it fit.  I was looking at the Pertronix for the dual point but the cap routers and points are all discontinued for the YC so it would be point less to spend the money to change it over and not be able to get a cap.

Use a Motorcraft distributor from a 63 292, remove the points plate and replace it with the breaker plate and reluctor from a '74-85 Ford 302.  Stab it in and hook up a duraspark box with the blue strain relief...thats what Im doing to my 312.

I went with the Motorcraft Duraspark also. I used what I had laying around & had the point cam machined off so the armature would fit. Quick trip to the junk yard yielded a Duraspark dist & loom for 30$. Transfered all the parts, wired it up, works fine.

I plan to put the pertronix unit in my 272 V8 this winter. For the most part the reviews are pretty positive. You always will find someone that has problems no matter what he touches. JC Whitney has the Pertronix for $69 something with free shipping. I think that is the route I am going take.

I've seen them on ebay, for 57- 74 ford v-8's.  How do I know what fits the 292?  Mark
