It may not be a '57 but it is of the same generation.  Much of the frame and suspension are very similar.  The engine may not be a Y but it is one bad ass FE.

Gary..super video..thanks for posting. I too was also wondering if he was going to overtake that Porsche. The Porsche was surprisingly quick out of the turns.
6cyl....One of our members here, Jim Nolan, has a super nice '63 (box top?)he did last year. It's not the fastback, so I'm assuming it's the same as what your was.

Not saying I could do better but after watching a couple of times, I noticed that the car was not setup as well as it needed to be and the driver needed more practice.  The Galaxie stuck out like a sore thumb...huge by comparison to the other more traditional race cars.  Little slower in the corners, but hauled on the long straight (ran out of gear and was bumping the rev limiter).  But for a vintage race (for fun), these guys were hammering 'em.  Nothing like a singing big block...must be 427 parts are cheap and plentiful in Europe.  All in all, the big-O Ford held its own and then some.

That was great. Brought back memories of all the Nascar races I attended at Riverside and I went to all of them. The fields were full of full size Fords with 427's and it was great watching them throw them through the corners. Dan Gurney was such a master.

Gary I agree with your comments, the car was out of shape coming out of the corners (too much wheel) to be real fast.  Better throttle modulation and a slightly smaller gear would have let him run to the front.  I noticed the "hick ups" in the many laps and thought about making a comment but decided not to.  Glad someone else noticed what I did.  I did do a little SCCA with a 70 Boss 302 in 72 & 73.....I have two local points championships and a regional invite under my belt.

Cool stuff, that thing hauled the mail on the straights. I used to get bored with road course's untill I did a ride along at road America, those guys that can wheel em have my respect. Sure do miss my 427,  Mark

Is there anyone on this site that did NOT own a 427?  After scattering my third 428 SCJ, my dealer told me not to come back.  It was 17 years old...what to hell did I know.  Didn't ya' just love those warrenties!  A friend who worked in a MOPAR dealership told my there was an old Ford motor under one of the benches.  It was out of a '69 Cougar hot rod that the dealer had picked up at auction.  It was so radical that all the kids in town wanted to test drive but as soon as the parents got wind of it...well in set in the dealer's lot for a long time.  Finally, the dealer bought a used 390 and swapped all the race stuff out.  My friend escorted me to the engine.  There under the bench was a 427 side oiler with MT valve covers, Mallory distributor, deep oil pan, Cobra aluminum air cleaner with 2x4s setting under it, big tube Hookers, and a 9" pig with TractionLoc and 4:57 gears.  $500.00 and it was mine and no time was spared negotiating or getting it into my truck.  Since I had it on the engine stand, I pulled the oil pan to replace gasket and rear main and inspect bearings and other conditions.  I pulled the water pump and timing chain cover.  Jahns pistons and a cam with a Ford part number ETCHED in the end of it and high rise heads.  I'm still clueless.  Shoe horned that baby into my '69 Mustang MachI.  Lite that puppy up and thought I had a double A Fueler.  I was stunned.  Two weeks later, I was on a bus to Fort Knox.

I never had a 427. But I did have a 429 SCJ. Bought when I was 18. Still have it - sitting in storage waiting for some day...
