I'm looking for a distributor  that sells the quarterpanel extension/ tail light housing gasket for the  custom.   I know that Mac's sells them for the fairlane, but not the custom.
I should have looked in the manual to get the correct name for it, but someone once said that a picture is worth a thousands words.
thanks to all that respond.JA

I may be wrong, but oddly enough, I haven't seen them for a custom that I remember. If I had known I probably could have put a pair of fairlane ones in that box I mailed to you today. I would just trim the fairlane ones down to fit the smaller custom extension. They are just 1/8 foam rubber.
I ended up moulding my extensions in, so I didn't use the ones I had bought. I'd look at
www.classicautoparts.com to make sure. If you have trouble finding them, let me know and I'll see if mine are still around.
I just checked, and both the mentioned and Dennis Carpenter just list the one. DC lists a set seperatly for the '58 Ranchero, but it has the same part number as the '57 Fairlane..so I guess they either don't know they're different or the idea is trim down for a custom when needed.

The three studs that go into the fenders are the same for the 500 and the custom.  I have the 500 extensions bolted to the fenders on my Ranchero

That's one part I won't need plan on bonding the cover on with panel adhesive and mounting everything  from the inside.

Anyone have a picture of tail light bucket for a car with a backup light? What it would like if seen from the trunk side with nothing in it.

Zap..I no longer have my oem buckets, so I can't look. I'm guessing all the buckets are the same, only the lenses different. The '63 I used just had an extra hole in the bucket for the back-up wire that would have been just plugged if the car didn't have a backup light. I'm guessing the '57's were made the same way.
I'm curious for what reason you want to load everything from the inside...are you trying to eliminate screws showing in a custom lens?

Thank you very much for getting the latch assembly off to me.  I sent a PM to JPpotte57 requesting info on  where to send a donation in your name.
After checking, it seems that the tail light housing gasket is not available for the custom , only the fairlane.    I'll just get what they have. Cutting one down is not a problem.

I sent you a PM this morning.

Ford blue blood That's a good picture.  Trimming the 500 gasket on the custom should be a walk in the park.
thanks jay
