Black "F" Code Retractable just sold at Barrett-Jackson for $300,000.....Holley cow Bat Man....speaking of Bat Man, the original Bat Mobile went for $4,200,00.00....unbelievable the money!

I'm having fun with my $100-150K Tri-Five Chevy friends over that one. A 57 Thunderbird sold for 50K more than a 57 corvette with fuel injection yesterday, and it was a single 4V version. Maybe everyone else is as sick of looking at tri-five chevy's as I am.

It's probably the nicest, rarest, most fully loaded 57 on the planet.

Pleasent surprise. Maybe Barrett Jackson will start showing more Fords. I get tired of watching Corvettes, Chevelles, Tri 5 Chevys & scrub engines in Fords.

I wish they would have said more about the car...too much hype over the Bat Mobil for them to bother with a detailed description of the lowley Ford!  I know of at least one more "F" code out there, a red/white/red that is very nice as well.  It does not have factory air but does have windows, seat, brakes, steering anf T&C with a continental kit.

Totally, agree. Need more Fords and less Batmobile hype

Just think about how many 57's you could buy for $4 million. I think that guy should have spent 1/10 of that amount on a top notch psychiatrist  :003:

Half the time on the block was with the Barris interview.I got over it though, very cool to see the numbers.

The white F-code '57 T-Bird only brought $110,000.    I felt that was really cheap for one that nice.  I'm sure the seller was a little disappointed.  I saw another white F-code go through BJ a few years ago for $125, which I also though was a lilttle low for a real F-code.

The Black F-code retract was awsome to see.  Glad it did well.

Amos Minter's Red F-code '57 Custom Sedan went through the Meccum Dallas Auction last spring and made it up to $285k, but did not meet reserve.   I would love to have it.

I considered selling my collection(except the black supercharged custom sedan) to gather some cash, but I still would be short of buying a '69 Boss 429, which is what I am working up to.  I guess I will just keep my multiple cars and have variety of stuff.   It is kinda cool to have to "pick a car" to drive around when I do errands around town.

The auctions seem fun, but do run the values up too much for some of use to get the car we really want.  It does bring recognition and respect to our hobby, as they are not just old cars but collector cars.

The bonus here is, it does seem most of "us" here like drivers. I would NEVER drive a car I paid $100,000+ for

Just a note: There were only 20 "F" retrackables built, I have their serial numbers. I believe the retrackable club as their original invoices.

RICH MUISE

How many F codes of the other models were built?
I can do this, I can do this, I, well, maybe

Guys:

Maybe the reason you see so many Tri-fives on the block is that their owners are tired of being looked at as having just another one of those.  When driving mine today the car was running "bitchen."  With a good lope at idle, a nice whistle from the blower, the smooth shifting through the gears and the thought that all the work and money put into the car these last 14 years was all worth it.  I know I feel very special when people are checking out my 57 and I sure as heck won't be putting it up on the auction block irregardless of what it would or wouldn't bring.  Keep and enjoy your 57's and let those Tri-fivers keep on selling theirs.  lol

I have always wanted to go to the barrett Jackson auction so I finally did it this year its quite the experience if you've never been there. The retract was beautiful and it was right after the batmobile which packed the arena and a bunch of people left after it sold and the 57 retract still brought big money. There was also a 58- 66A ranchero with a 57 front end very nicely restored with a 6 cyl. it sold for $18,150 and a very nice 59 ranchero that sold for $33,000 also a beautiful 57 country squire wgn. that sold for $55,000.
