dash color question

My speaker grill is chrome that is pitted etc, so I will painting it when I paint the dash. I've noticed some pictures show the grill being the same color as the dash. In my foggy memory I thought the grills were a grey color originally?

My blue dash has a white grill. I don't know if its ever been painted.

The best colr for redoing the dash and interior trim for '57 Custom sedans is a GM color called "Warm Gray Metallic" from a mid to late 80's Astro Van.   

It is the correct colors, but looks just a little fresher than what Ford used.

You can flatten the clear coat some if you want it real flat.   It looks great in glossy clear too.

A memeber here, just did his Custom Tudor interior trim with that color and was really pleased.

My first 57 had the same blue dash as yours but I don't think the grill was white. It was either blue or grey.

   My dash was original paint,all the same color green, everything including the speaker grille. I too am going to repaint the interior trim parts, and dash. I'm going to go with the same color as I'm repainting the exterior of the car in a year or so.

Thanks Tim, I guess they were the same color, that will make it easy..

My dash is all original green and the speaker color is the same. I bought the original color in acrylic lacquer and will be doing all the interior trim and dash this summer or fall.

Right now I will just do the dash so I can get it back on the road. The trim pieces will go on the endless list.

I'm just trying to slow the vortex down enough to keep it from sinking  . Now that the front and rear suspension is done I still haven't driven further then I can walk back home, like two blocks  . If all goes well I may get new tires next week. In the mean time I'll work on the dash and electrical. I didn't have a 57 on my bucket list originally, so I may have shot myself in the foot again..

   I know what you mean about the bucket list. I have always loved Dad's cars, and always thought it would be nice to have one someday. But, when Dad passed away, Mom needed money to pay for the funeral, and the next thing you know, someday came, and I now own a 57' Ford! Don't get me wrong, I love this car, and wouldn't get rid of it for anything, but it does suck up the time and money! I keep looking toward the finish line, and thinking how fun it will be this summer, with my grand kid's!

Sorry about your Dad Tim and that you couldn't keep his cars. I worked out a deal with the wife and my son, who loves 57's too. When I'm gone he is going to buy it from mom and thats how I justified buying and fixing it. But I still have limited funds and have to do everything myself. My grand kids love it too..
