motor back out

Well I now Know first hand about the spin on oil filter adapters. I had the 292 rebuilt and when we started it we had to shut it down when we found the leak. After 6 times attempting to fix the leak we stopped and the engine builder said we would replace it. later that night, I found a link on the y block site on how to reform the plate and it worked. The next day I started the motor again 3 times but could not keep fuel to it, so I changed the pump and flex line that feeds it. The motor was started again and we ran it for 25 minutes at 2000 rpm and thought we had dodged the bullet with the cam. I was cleaning up the barn Easter and noticed the temp. was at 60 outside so I had to take it out for a ride. The motor seemed to be running good so the next two days I took it out after work for a little ride. I live near Rt 12 where I can run it 60 -70 mph for 20+ miles with no stops, so the plan was to get a couple hundred miles on it and the engine builder was going to adjust the valves. Just as I was getting near home from my third trip it started to miss. I was really wanting to find a wire off or a bad plug but didn't so I pulled off a rocker cover and found a push rod out of place.  The builder came over and told me we lost a lobe on the cam and to bring it back, so I figured if I didn't do it right away I would just be thinking about it so in about three and a half hours I had it back out. I am happy the builder is standing behind his work and promised to get it back asap

Sorry to hear about the cam. I run ZDDP in mine to add to the zinc levels in the oil.Should help with cam breakin.
