OK I fess up. It was actually me. I thought that would look cool on my fairlane and help it appeal to the younger (than me) crowd. In a fit of coolness I drove out to Enfield and raced around some residential neighborhoods to revive the good old fashioned hot rodder badass image, but my hopes were dashed when my sewer pipe sized muffler fell off. I was too ashamed to go pick it up and too cheap for the 15$ finders fee. How do I live with myself?

On our last trip to Phoenix we went home the southern route to avoid snow. Stopped in Casa Grande to fill up. There was one of those big class AAA motor homes...the big ones that are almost always dark bronzes. Anyway..stopped for the next tank in New Mexico, and there was the same motor home on the other side of the island. I told him I noticed him in Casa Grande. He said he had just put 80 gallons in there cause it was more expensive. We got to talking...200 gallon gas tanks on those rigs. If he didn't have to do too much uphill driving he could get 6 mpg. I guess if you can afford a half million dollar motor home, 800 bucks for a tank of gas is no big deal.
