Hi
I bought a accelerator pedal off @#bay but its too short to even  get to the linkage, the linkage has a slot in it,can anyone post a picture of how they fixed this problem, sense i cannot trust bay.con to tell the truth.if there a pedal to linkage extention?or am I beating a  :deadhorse:

Thanks

Hard to reply to this, since we don't know what it is you bought. If it's "too short", sounds like you didn't get a correct pedal. I haven't got that far on mine, so I won't be much help. I was going to adapt a '63 Galaxie 500xl for mine...stainless with rubber ribs...and they are tall...until I decided on a engine that required a cable throttle linkage.
Whatever you end up doing, make sure it operates smoothly...sticky gas pedals aren't too cool.
Welcome to the forum BTW.

yeah the guy where I got it from, said it would work, but its too short,so I'm either going to make and ext. for it or try a mustang pedal, which won't be bolted to the floor,I'll post pictures once i decide on what route to take thanks for the replys.

Custom pedals can be a real safety hazard at times.  I know the stock correct pedal can be purchased from Dennis Carpenter for around $20.

the one I got is 11"inches,and too short what is the correct length? I don't want to keep spending money on one thats going to be too short.I went to dennis carpenter site and its the same part numbers as the one I bought.B7A-9735.

It appears like you got the correct one...especially at 11 inches. I don't have my old one, so I can't verify, but it sounds correct. It doesn't appear that the throttle "rod" has been altered from what we can see of it in the pic....unless for some reason it was cut and rewelded above where we can see. Is it coming thru the firewall in the oem position as Bill is showing in his first pic?, and is it mounted (positioned) to the floor in the same oem location?
It is a really strange problem you got there.

its in the same place of the orginal monuting holes,I know that engine not orginal, acording to the intake numbers it came out of? 1958 ford?cannot see the engine numbers its a two barrel carb.I'll measure the linkage and get back with you.Bad storms going on here in western n.c. right now.if someone can measure theirs from the inside it would help.At least that would give idea,of whats wrong.

I did have my old gas pedal, and it is also 11 inches, so your problem appears to be elsewhere. Here are some pics of the oem throttle rod so you can compare it to yours to see if it's been altered. You mentioned yours had a slot in it, so I'm guessing it has been altered, or not oem.
No, that's not my thumb.
Interesting note...I think these rods are stainless. I cleaned mine up about 4 or 5 years ago....still shiney. and it is magnetic, but the pull is weak, so these things could probably be cleaned up and polished for a nice looking linkage..inside the engine compartment as well.

ok your is a spool type where the one I have is slotted, inside measurement from fire wall is eight inches,so were can I find the spool type at.thanks.

Let me do a little more checking to see if I'll posibly need mine. I'm like 98% sure I can't use mine because of the efi throttle / cable on the 4.6 dohc I'm intalling. If I do in fact need a cable set up, you can have this one. It's all cleaned up..just needs paint or polish and a little lube. I'll try to determine that tommorrow. In the meantime, PM me your address. What I do on parts when I can, is no charge, and I pay the shipping as well. All I ask in return, after you receive the part, and it works for ya, is to make a small donation to James, here at the forum. You decide the $ amount.

Ok i got one more request, wed. 07/10/2013 I'm taking my ranchero over to a local shop to get the rusted out section behind the seat fixed, does anyone have any pictures with the bed pan removed, under the back window, the @#$% who had this ranchero before me done a real bang up butcher job there, and I have nothing that show me what it who look like.My body and trim sealer book is no help.pictures behind the seat and pictures with the bed pan out would help me put this back to as close as orginal as I can get.

Here is a link I found with some great tech and pics. Hope this helps. Also I am attaching a pic of behind my rear seat, if anyone has any clue what the holes are going through from the cab to the bed, i would greatly appreciate knowing the answer to this. For the life of me I cannot figure out what they are and what they are for. Thanks.
