aluminum radiator

went to a 80th birthday party today,  talking to another old car guy & told him  about me putting a aluminum rad in one of my cars,  and using prestone antifreeze,   he says that theres a special antifreeze out there for aluminum rads,  is that true?,  if so,  whats the fname if u know,   or is prestone fine?,   thanks    jerry

i would say 95% of the anti-freezes out there are compatible with aluminum.
Most cars built today have aluminum heads, water pumps, etc.

Unless I'm missing something all the major brands should be ok.

Newer cars are using the gold and red antifreeze and switching will void warranty.  Not sure if they (red and gold) are required to prevent premature failure but I will say "galvantic" (sp) action is an issue with aluminum parts in a cooling system.  Sacrificing anodes are sold for use in systems that have aluminum components.
