There were 3 guys selling Y block stuff. Nothing finned like I wanted. But scored a better trunk emblem.
One was in my trunk, One was on the car. And the new one little cracked, but you can at least read Fairlane on it. Not bad for $30

That was a fun swap.Ran into Joe Commer who had sold me my car nearly 40 years back. And the guy who brought me to Joe's Auto Sales in the fall of 69 in his quest for a front fender for a 64 Galaxie.

Was told something almost 40 years ago that is true today as the moment I heard it. Was passing time at the counter of an early Ford parts store and was handed a flier for a small swap meet coming up. Having never heard of it before asked if it was any good. The reply was any swap meet is good if you find anything you're after. You found not only a part at a price that pleased you but had the resources to make the purchase. You might consider buying a lottery ticket, lol.

And then R57FORD connects with with a couple of old friends, can't get much better than that. Sounds like its a great swap meet.

I took a young man to the Portland Swap Meet with me about 20 years ago. He had against my advise (which he asked for) bought a rust bucket 68 Camaro that needed 1001 things to just make it half right. Every time we turned around we ran into an old friend, he commented that I sure knew a lot of people. Upon reflection have realized the contacts we make in this hobby are just as important as the cars and parts. One last memory of that meet was we found a guy with a box full of parts for his car you know one of those boxes full of parts that are put away as we find better and then even better parts. Well he was digging thru it trying to find a ''perfect'' turn signal lens and the guy asked him about his car, then said ''kid take the whole box sounds like you need it all''. It was a great swap meet for Chris that day.

I know I have sure made a lot of what I consider friends here. Hope to one day meet some of you in person. I have a lot of car buddies but at my age most of them are into fuel injected mustangs and scrub cars.

I've also noticed lots of Illinois guys on here, maybe we could do some events, get together as many Midwest guys as we can.  Mark

Yeah, agreed. It's great to see the younger generation get interested in our interests. Speaking of different generations, or difference in reginal upbringings .... what's a scrub car?
I can do this, I can do this, I, well, maybe

Most of my Generation are into Muscle cars.... I like them... but they don't interest me enough.
