57 Chevy or Edsel

Seeing the comments about the 57 Ford/Chevy--I have a close friend with one of the nicest '57 Chevy's around, he bought it when he was 16 and now in his early 50's. Since I am a die hard Ford guy, I refer to his car as an Edsel. At the Good Guys Show here in Des Moines a couple years ago- while walking through the swap meet, I spied a pair of Missouri personalized plates "Edsel".
I HAD to buy them and a couple weeks later at a cruise in I taped them over his plates front and rear! I wish you could have saw the look on his face when he spied them, not to mention the others there walking by! Glad he has a sense of humor!

When I spot a Nomad at a car show or car cruise, I always talk extra loud when I'm near it and refer to it as a BEACH WAGON.  I usually say something like ..."Look at the 2door beach wagon".  You should see the dirty looks.  Sometimes they correct me.

Does that mean that we're getting to be elderly?   In my day that's what we always called them except  for when we called them a Station Wagon.

Yep...they were beach wagons in our neck of the woods at least.
Elderly??...LOL...A few months back when I was leaving for a weekend roadtrip, my wife gave me a hug and said.." be careful, I'm planning on us growing old together", to which I laughed and said, "Hon, we've been there done that".

Now that isn't very nice...an Edsel is so much more classy then a 57 Chevy....you shouldn't defame such a fine automobile as that by putting it into the same pile!

When I just read what you said to your wife, I burst out laughing aloud..  Good thing no one was watching me or they would have thought I was cracking up..

It's funny that you mentioned that about defaming a fine automobile like an Edsel.  I was trying to show restraint.  People might get the right idea and think I'm a Chevy basher.

Glad you guys enjoyed. The owner of this 57 is and instructor at the Des Moines Community College auto body program. He is a super nice guy and can't help it his Dad blurred his mind with Chevies. He would buy a Ford if the right one came along! It is one of the nicest 57's around, I am just glad he takes my kidding in stride!
