Ranch Wagon Tail gate lock

I'm looking for a picture of the piece that goes from the tailgate lock to the tailgate handle.  I have the key lock with the long square shaft and I have the gate handle but I don't know what goes between the two.  The picture I found it looks like it is a plate of some sorts.  I need to either make one of find one.

there is a plate--basically a piece of sheet metal about 2.5 inches wide and bent twice so it has 3 sides---my tailgate is all buttoned up or I would get some measurements and pic
