you need it. the TV cable will adjust hydraulic transmission pressure according to your accelerator pedal/carb linkage ( originally the FI throttle valve). take your time with the adjustment. it is not so difficult. you will need a pressure gauge and braided hose. lokar cable includes a how to sheet.

Thanks, I've just looked at the Lokar set up and it's added to my "need" list.  It would have been so much easier with a stick shift!

The AOD that was in my car had kick down throttle linkage and no cable. As far as I know it all worked ok except it started in gear and was connected to manual column shift linkage with no "PRNDL" indictator. The TV cable was news to me , I'd never heard of such. Toploader for me!

I've heard the term "TV cable" frequently, but never understood why it was called that. I'm sure somebody here will explain it.

Look at the link I posted.... it is for a "Throttle Valve Cable Corrector Kit". Automotive kickdown transmission kickdown cable is the part type.
