WOW I haven't seen one of those for years.  A friend found one complete with 2 4 barrel carbs in a junk yard in southern Okla. back 25 years ago, cost him $1500.00 he was buying up all the Ford big blocks he could find.  He ran it in a '72 short bed Ford Pickup.  I lost track of him but I bet he still has it some where.  I think finding all the other parts would be "fun", heads are super rare too!

The 66-427 mark is not only cammers.
That rear core box was used on most FE's during that era.
Cammers also have a different oil drain than regular 427's.
Need more pics to see what this is.

Standard bore with light surface rust.Whats not salvageable ?

Ron, I've seen blocks with the main webbing blown out that was saved.  I sold a side oiler block to a guy, needed a sleeve, and had frozen and split in the lifter valley.  It is repaired and running today.  A non-savable 427, especially with the cammer drainback provision, is something you're not likely to find.

Hate to get involved but at the asking price you can get 2 brand new 427 cammer capable blocks--pond/BBM (3250.00 DELIVERED THIS WEEK)-the new blocks are superior in every respect--original 427 blocks wont take much overbore---lots of pistons back in the day were .017 over to minimize boring--most people wont touch a .030 427 block---no cammers came in production cars so no one needs a "number matching" block--It is a neat item but at 8000.00 I dont see any takers

Whoa, light surface rust?
I have fixed busted blocks for 50+ yrs. Probably easier than this one.
EVERY machined surface is rusted.
Dip it first and then tell me it is std bore...
Deck ALL the surfaces, align bore the mains, Btw no caps, spacers or bolts present.
Cam tunnel, oil feeds, everything needs prep.
Call Barry R and ask for a price to get to usable again.
I was intially easy on it but, I would not give a grand for it w/o a dip and mag first.
As was noted 3k gets a new (and much better) iron block and 5k a new aluminum one.

I like the idea that you can get a new block for 3500 or so, wish it were a little cheaper.  At this stage of my life, I would say I would have to hit the lottery to have a 427.  I do have a nice 312 that I am getting ready to assemble, complete with supercharger.  I would entertain swapping it for a nice 406 or 427, but this one is fresh, still at the machine shop, so it won't be given away.  I would prefer to build it and put it in my car, but if we're talking swapping for a decent 406 or 427, I would be game.  The guy I sold my split 427 SO block to was a professional machinist, worked on it in his spare time, and saved it.  It was going to cost to much for me to have done.  Point made, Ron, not wanting to start a fight with anyone.  Cheers.

Me either. Just hate to see anyone fooled by ads like this.
I'd much rather have a S/C312 than a 427 in a 57 although my 61 Starliner would
be very happy with a 427.  A stroker 390 (445) is much more driveable and far less expensive
in todays world. Horsepower is in the heads now.
