I'll bet Jay is drooling over the air cleaner.

Did you see the NOS one that was listed last week and included the valley cover?

OMG !
I think Jay and me will have to split the setup, so he gets his cleaner and I get the carbs/intake  :003:

It'll be interesting where this ends up...it went from just over 5 to 676 in 3 or 4 hours, with 6 days left to go.
I can do this, I can do this, I, well, maybe

Jeff Norwell

Nice looking Set-up.  I love those factory air cleaners.  It will need some work, and the wrong fuel filter, but those correct carbs are hard to find.

I hope it ends up back on a '57 Ford someday.

It off ebay now.   Which one of us made a deal on it?  I'd love to know what it ends up on.

It is amazing how things like that just seem to jump out of the woodwork.  Stuff is still out there.

Jeff Norwell

Pat
I was just wondering.....  Did you mean that the fuel filter on the Ecode setup that was on eBay is incorrect?    I took this filter off of an E code 1957 Ford New York State Police car a long long long time ago.   It is similar to the one on my 406 that I put into my 58 Ford except that the 406 has larger fuel lines than the 57.   I was of the impression that some 57 filters look like a trash can and some like these.
I know that my carburetors on my Y block are incorrect .  Just using what I have      What's your opinion of the filters?   Thank you Jay

Too bad that the E code Carbs were ended early. Would've loved to find out about their value.
Jay, what's with the dual heat shields for the spark plug wire connectors ? Did you custom make these or are these factory equipement? None of my 3 Y-blocks had these. I am aware of the usual factory wire hold down clamps/ fasteners.
The scallops on the 58 sure look great !

Guenter....   YOU DON'T HAVE THOSE HEAT SHIELDS???
     WOW!!!   You don't miss anything.
They are original  I'll find a set and send them to you.   That will save you from my finding fault with your car at a car show in front of your friends when / if I come over there to see you. HAHAHA

Back in the mid 60's a friend of mine had a 57 E-code 2dr ht.
At some point drugs became more important to him than the car and he
sold me the intake set-up and a pair of T-Bird valve covers. Unfortunately
I didn't get the fuel filter.

At the time I was doing inventory control for the Holley carb co. distributor in
Wash, DC. so I ordered every single part still available for the carbs and did very through
rebuilds on them.

Ran that set-up on my first 57 Skyliner for about 3 yrs and never had any problems whatsoever.
Maybe old tired ones had problems but, fresh ones worked great for me.

My 312 at the time was .040 over, Isky RPM-300 cam and a Holley Roto-vance dual point dist.
and .040 milled off the heads.

Had some fun w/327 ch**s for yrs.

Ron.
