Cuba was the big news story today.

I shoulda thought of that, lol. So I guess not a car show, just normal vehicle traffic. Explains the few new cars parked in with the oldies. Thanks. Also explains the architecture.

Earlier today saw a picture of the SOB Fidel riding in what am sure was a 57-8 ford

Nah! This was an old picture from the late 50s, have to wonder who the poor guy it was stolen from. Spoils of war.

Zapato, I never heard of Fidel goverment stealing cars from his people, just that his goverment took over American Owned companies, please post some more details.I do know that in the 1980s the Cuban goverment bought a lot of 30s classic cars and offered them for sale in South America, a client of mine bought two Packards and had them shipped to the US.

In the early days of the "revolution" when they rolled into Havana they seized all sorts of things from anyone who was tied to the Batista government. And as people started leaving more stuff was seized. And then as the CDR was being formed homes on every block was taken and a block captain was placed there whose sole job was to watch and snitch on his neighbors. CDR was/is the Committee for  the Defense of the Revolution. Before we left Cuba in '61 my parents sold or gave away everything we owned in order to pay our passage out of the country. Remember sleeping on the floor for weeks prior to our leaving as mom had found a buyer for our beds.

Money was at apremium in Cuba as under Che's direction in 1960 on one day all Cuban currency became worthless. And on that day it all needed to be exchanged for the new currency. Didn't matter how much you had whether 1 peso or millions every adult now had 300 pesos. And a truly worthless currency outside of Cuba. Prior to Castro the Cuban peso traded straight across for the US dollar.

You have to believe me Lou when those gangsters took over Cuba they took anything they wanted all for the "good of the revolution".

Could go on forever on this subject but believe me Castro and his boys were/are not the benevolent heroes that the left wants the world to believe.

It is amazing how inaccurate news reporting has been and probably still is concerning what went on in Cuba.  I hope that todays Cubans can work their way out of the wonderful paradise that Communism brought to the people who weren't able to immigrate to the U.S.  I, too am very glad you are with us.
