    I was just wondering...
Do any of you happen to know if a 59 Ford station wagon roof skin will fit a 57 Ford station wagon?  Thanks in advance for any and all answers.

Can't tell you if it fits, but I do know where there is a '59 wagon with a good roof.

Zapato

The 59 is such a different beast that I would doubt it fitting. But have been mistaken before so other than doing some measuring no real way to tell unless someone has some old body shop parts catalogs.

I don't have either one of them here to measure, but from what I'm hearing, it looks like the 59 wagon roof will not be a good candidate for a 57 Ford wagon replacement.

Thanks for taking the time to check your Hollander.   Now I know for sure that it will not fit.

I checked the parts book and the '57s and '58s have the same part number (B8A 5950200-A) but the '59s show a different one (B9A 5950200-A).

Depending on how you cut it.  Heck, if cut correctly, any long roof skin could be grafted on, including one of those cool Vista Cruiser windowed roofs or late model van, whatever.  Just depends on how much cutting and welding you want to do.

Actually what I was trying to do was  come up with something that could be used for repairing the roof on Guenter's car in Austria.  The 59 is not going to  work out because it's profile does not look like a 57 Ford
Jeff gave me a lead on one today and I'm working on that.
Also.....  I just sent you a PM.   Jay

James, you just came up with an awesome idea. I gave it a shot with my extremely limited photoshop skills. It would be cool to see someone try this for real:

WOW!  Marc   That looks great.  Like they say ...a picture is worth a thousand words.  I wonder what Guenter is going to say when he sees this.    Jay

Jay thank you for bringing up the topic and everybody's replies.
I like those Vistacruiser Oldsmobiles ( am I allowed to say something like this ? hahaha). some years ago a guy here had a 66 I think and it was white with blue tinted glass and blue interior. Quite a car !!! I don't think I would want this on my 57. It seems a bit to new. There is a full custom 1962ish T bird with a roof like that, and even though it sounds like a nice custom touch, it doesn't look too good in reality.
I am thinking about a 58 replacement roof though, with its ribbed rear section it would look great on a Del Rio. It would also add needed strength. Honestly speaking the rear part of the 57 wagon roofs are only held up by a few roof bows and they push it up too much. in my opinion that was a weak design from the beginning. the 58 is much more rigid in design.
I wouldn't want to dive into the trouble of making another year roof fit. I can probably repair the og 57 roof in the same time- and the 57 wagon roofs look damn good, with their ridge and all. If it wasn't for the rain gutter rust, I would never even think about replacing it.
