Disc brake conversion...

14" steel rims that will fit disc brakes are getting hard to find, and I'm not sure if any of the aftermarket  billet/aluminum 14" wheels will fit discs. That is also another consideration when deciding on which disc brake kits. Many have bigger rotors than others limiting the wheel size and choice. Many here have gone to 15" wheels, but that eliminates the use of oem hubcaps of course.

15" wheels with the correct hub cap locating tabs allow the use of the OE hub caps. I recently bought a set of new Wheel Vintique series 62 15" steel wheels, and the original "dog dish" hub caps fit just fine. Now, if you are referring to full wheel covers, rather than the small hub caps, that would be an issue. But most factory 15" steel wheels used on 60s and 70s full sized Fords will accept the small hubcaps.

i am running granada front brakes and granada 14 inch rims and stock full disc hub caps on my wagon.most 70's 14 inch ford rims will work with disc brakes,but you need to watch your rotor and caliper size

I was speaking of the smaller hubcaps. So...that problem is solved then. Only reason I wanted the 14" was so I could still use those...figuring they would change the size with different sized wheels! WHEW!

How wide are yours? 6" or 7" I had 7" before...I still have a couple, but no telling where the other 3 went.

I had no problem with the 7" ones. I am looking to keep this puppy stock...well...except for the 390/428 with tri-power! LOL!!! I do have another that used to be a race car...and I may return it to that sort of romper when I get to it. I do have fond memories of that ride!

I have 15x7" Wheel Vintiques series 62 with the stock 10 1/8" dog dish hubcaps on all 4 corners. They have 4.25" B.S. The 8" wheels have 4.25 B.S. too, so that extra inch is all on the outside making rear fitment questionable unless the rear end is narrowed. I understand that Wheel Vintiques wiil do a custom back spacing.... 5" B.S. would probably work fine. My car looks "stock" as well except for the 428 emblems...

After I converted my rears to disk brakes using the 15 inch wheels, I took two 1956 Ford 15 inch hub caps and cut approximately one and a quarter inches from the outer edges and slipped the rings over my 14 inch stock caps. Unless one points it out, you hardly notice the difference. The rings are extremely tight on the 14 inch cap.

73- 76 Torino and Gran Torino also had 14" wheels with discs as I have 2 sets with 14" wheels 5 on 4.50 bolt circle.
