Since both of my wagons originally came from Cali, and I already have a vintage style card holder for the column/sunvisor I would like to know what the original registration cards looked like. I would like to print out a fake vintage card that goes in the Country Sedan. Does anybody have an old registration card like that and what would it look like? If anybody could make a scan of an original that would be most appreciated. name and VIN can be blanked out I just need the form sheet.

I'll inquire with the group of old timers I have lunch with occasionally and see what I can find. May not see them again until next week..

This is what a 59 looked like, I assume the 57 would be similar?

Jim, that is a terrific start, thank you!!!! A '59 would be period correct in the 57, wouldn't it ? still the same yellow license plates as well. Let's see if somebody can find a 1957 reg card.

I could almost make new ones if I knew what the font was for the year :003: I hope I don't end up in jail  :005:

haha ! great one !
IN German we have a saying called 'zwoa Dumme, a Gedanke' . two idiots with the same mind... :003:
we are not doing felony by using 60 year old used forms, this is simply recreating the period correct details for a car that now resides in Europe.

boy, this is looking better than what I would ever have hoped for... :001:

Excellent. The next time I'm in Bakersfield I'm going to look for that address. They were white originally I believe and then turned yellow after being exposed to the sun for a period of time.

Thanks for translating that for me.  I'm not too bright and never would have figured out what it means.   Is that some sort of Bavarian dialect?

No wonder, Jay, actually this is when a Bavarian and an Austrian stupid meet :003: and you know who we are talking about....
with my 'brother' Lothar, sometimes we don't even have to say a word. we just look into one another's eyes and we know we're good for another weirdo idea, going somewhere, building cars or generally doing what shouldn't be done... :003:

Jim, keep the reg cards coming, please. If some of your friends had a 1957 card I would have my Del Rio registered as well.
When I posted the request today I didn't think that I would have it all done a few hours later. Big THX !

Actually the 4dr CS came from the San Francisco area, last registered in Napa and built in San Jose. so Bakersfield is a little off, but I'd be ok with that adress, now that we have freezing temperatures here all the time....

hiball3985

Glad to help, I hope we can locate a 57 card. I called one guy today who has hundreds of license plates but no registration cards. This is going to be a tough nut to crack..

Would these reg cards also be mandatory to be shown in car '63 up ? asking because my Del Rio still has the original 1963 black plates from its second (?) owner (car originally come from Dearborn). so for matching license plate numbers it would be correct to have a 63' registration card.

hiball3985

Thats a good question but I can't remember when showing the registration card ended, my brain is like Swiss cheese at times. I think it would be correct to have 63 card if the plates are 63. I also have black plates on my car, my friends wagon has the yellow.
