trying to install Borgeson power steering box in my 1958 Ford.  it is supposed to be a bolt-in conversion [lol].  the unit hits tight against the exhaust manifold.  looking for solutions?  by moving the unit about 1" toward the rear, I think it would clear.  not sure if this: [1] would mess up the steering geometry, [2] change the steering column angle.  anyone else had this problem?  has a 390 fe engine.  suggestions welcome. I have a brand new Borgeson steering box (#800115) still in the box sitting in my garage for my Ranch Wagon.  It's sold as a "bolt in" as long as you have the correct part number, and fits 52-64 Ford models.  As you already know, the OE Ford steering shaft needs to be modified for a coupler.  Are you using their Drag Link adapter end?

Since the 390 engine is not original to your '58 car, what exhaust manifolds are you using?  Have you tried to unbolt the motor mounts from the frame, and jack the engine up a little for a trial fit?

Maybe give Borgeson tech line a call on Monday?  I'll be interested to hear what the solution is for your fit issue.  My Ranch Wagon has a 351W engine in it.

You have my interest, I plan to put in a Borgeson also. I have an FE as well, but with FPA headers. My car currently has a '58 box too. I seem to have a great deal of space (relatively speaking) between the steering box and the headers... Since '58's could have had a 332 which is physically the same as the 390 (manifolds and all), Borgeson should know if the swap is supposed to work.

Did you check your motor mounts? Depending on how much room you need maybe you could shim the engine up a little bit???
