If any of you are going to the Great Woods swap meet in Mansfield Mass, I will be in spaces J1 and K1
the dates are May 19 and 20 2018.  This event is huge and is the oldest swap meet around this area.  I have been attending it for about 40years.  If you have something large , you can leave it at my space so you don't
have to carry it all over the place.  Looking forward to meeting some of you.   Jay

Might try and head up Saturday, weather doesn't look that good right now though. Still a long ways away, will definitely stop in and say  :006: if I do.
When I was fourteen years old, I was amazed at how unintelligent my father was. By the time I turned twenty-one, I was astounded at how much he had learned in the last seven years!

I look forward to meeting you.  I'm in Carver which is next to Plymouth.
Do you know the guy from the cape with the clean looking brown 57 Ford custom?  I think his name is Rick.   last year I spotted his car going into the Halifax cruise but didn't get to talk to him because I was going in the other direction.  Do they still have the cape cruise at the high school on the hill near the State Police barracks?   We 57 guys should  try to hook up together this summer.
You are correct.  The weather liars have been saying that week will be a wash out.

Thanks for the link to the Shamrods site.  I went to the Halifax cruise this evening. There were over 200 cars there including two  57 Fords , my custom and a cool fairlane  2 dr. hardtop. .

I'm gonna head up Jay, but the weather still doesn't look like fun.  :hurricane:

I heard what the weather liars have been saying about the rain that is coming this week end also.  It's
almost 3.00 AM Saturday morning and I'll be leaving in about 1/2 an hour so I can get into the spaces before the crowd arrives.
     Looking forward to meeting you.

Jay, it was a pleasure meeting with you today and look forward to getting together with you sometime in the future.
I used to attend the Great Wood Swap Meet regularly when I was young, but haven't been in 20+ years. Sad to see what it has become from what it used to be, but I guess the Internet and E-Pay have made it what it is.

P.S. Late 70's to early 80's Ford truck

It was nice meeting you also.  I know that the rain did not help, but did you notice all of the empty spaces?   Seems like a lot of people thought that this event  was history.  It probably would help if the new guy called the place by the proper name.  It has changed names twice in the past couple of years.
I'll get some pictures for you in the next few days.   Let's keep in touch.  You are not that far away.  It's good to hook up with a real 57 Fordforever member.

Check your email.  I sent you pics of some spare  57 front sheet metal that I think you can use so you do not have to strip  the existing dual headlight fenders.   Like I said before it's always more work to undo what someone else has already done. Someone will want those fenders with the dual headlights just like they are..  It's my opinion that there is less work in starting out with another set of fenders and header panel.
Hopefully I didn't type in the wrong email address.

Lol, Jack I just don't know how to get these fenders and headlights to Austria!

Jay, thanks for the pics, both sets came through last night. I will definitely be in touch so we can get together. I just need to iron a few things out first. Went to Plumb Corner in Rochester tonight for the cruise; opted to stop for ice cream with the Mrs. first just down the road from the cruise. As we headed to Plumb corner smelled strong smell of gas, pulled over and saw the accelerator pump was leaking so turned around and headed home.  :'(
I think the Holley 600 is too big for the motor and someone has played around with it prior to me getting it, ( the square nut for the float adjustment is stripped on the front float and the back one has a nylon washer on the bottom and a square piece of gasket material on top and still weeps, also some weeping from the idle adjustment screw on the drivers side, etc...) so I ordered a 500 cfm Edlebrock for it tonight. Once I get things squared away, I'll give you a shout so I can meet up with you.
thanks again, much appreciated.

P.S. djfordmanjack, figure out a price and some shipping and we'll talk.  :003:

Joe, I really would be interested in your fenders, since mine ( on the DR) need the front headlights repaired anyways and I like the way your quad headlights setup looks. I am not so much worried about shipping the fenders, since both of you and Jay live so close together and I think Jay is offering and would be willing to inspect or even picking up the fenders for me. I have a means of transportation from Jays place. First you need to get a decent set of og 57 front fenders, or at least that can be repaired with the sections you already got.
I feel that there was a lot of mods done to fit the 58 headlight assemblies to your og fenders and it might be much more work to  bring them back to 57 specs than to repair or paint a decent og set.

I can picture in my mind the place on the right where you would have stopped for ice cream on your way to Plumb corner.  That most likely would have been Rochester Rd. I think.  That's the way I drove to work when  I was stationed at the  RMV in your city.  It's good that  you did find that leak and were able to make it back home safely with your wife.  The new 500 cfm carb should do the trick for you.  I would not want to call you during the day when you are working, but you can call me any time or I'll call you this evening.

Jay, you are close, it is on the right side. Capt. Bonney's Creamery. But it's on New Bedford Road in Rochester, Perry Hill Road (Acushnet) changes to New Bedford Road in Rochester. Short ride for me through the back roads from Fairhaven, so it wasn't too bad. Hopefully the new carb comes in for the weekend. I might give you a shout Saturday and try and meet up.(all depends what the wife has going on) As far as calling during the day, I wouldn't know until after I get out of work as there are no cell phones allowed in the jail. :'( You can always leave a message and I'll call you back after work.

Guenter, when I tear it apart this fall, maybe we'll see if we can do something if I go the new fender route, (although Jay keeps trying to convince me to keep them, as they might be worth more down the road) so I can try and recoup some of the small fortune this project is costing me.  :deadhorse:

P.S. Jay is more than welcome to crawl all over them for you.  :003:
