I wonder why the MkII is all blacked out, even the grill and windshield trim. is this a shine runner car ?

RICH MUISE

Yeah, I thought that pic had a bunch of questions in my mind. Given the age of the patrol car, the Mark had to be pretty new.

I think something was mentioned about it being pre production.

On post 4608, the car's windows are so covered with condensation, they look frosted.

'60 Ford? It's the only one I can think of with that high front to back trim.

My guess is that is Tippi Hedren in, or during the making of, "The Birds".

I think i posted this earlier: Tippi Hedren and Alfred Hitchcock, Los Angeles, on the 101 Freeway in Los Angeles, California, 1962; Photo by Lawrence Schiller 1961 Lincoln Continental 4-Door Convertible

That could be from the movie Marnie. I think there was a Lincoln in that. In the Birds she drove a British sports car.

The Whine Maker was a team that raced out of Phoenix, AZ when I was a kid growing up (mid 1960's).  The car was usually painted a light purple color.  They tried to run it like a fuel dragster, direct drive, no slipper clutch, no transmission, and tons of Nitro, AND with a rear mounted engine.  I saw this car run many different times and they could never get it to leave off the line.  It had lots of traction, no low gears to launch the car, and it would just die when they let the clutch out.  Lots of big name drivers tried to drive this car.  It ran at Mel Larson's Speedworld, and Beeline Dragway, both in the Phoenix, AZ metro area.   You surprised me with this photo, I have never seen the front wheels off the ground!

You guys come up with some pretty cool stuff, Thanks for the memories.
