Sold to an airline pilot in St. Johns Newfoundland, Captain Tucker, I believe.
1959 Meteor 2 door sedan , 428 Cobra Jet 4 speed. Been drag racing Fords (mostly FEs) 47 years and counting.
Previous 50s Fords include 57 Custom 4 door, 2 57 Ford Sedan Deliveries, 59  Country Sedan, and as a 9 year old, fell in love with the family 58 2 door Ranch Wagon.

the first stylish white Mustang convertible getting sold to a snowy and cold island in the northeast. was that meant as a joke?

you'd rather think it was going to Vegas or California or at least to the Bahamas.

If I remember the story correctly (you can probably google it) the car was never supposed to be sold to begin with. The company got it back a few years later in exchange for another one...and I believe the one in the pic now resides in The Henry Ford. (museum in Dearborn next to Greenfield Village)

that is another interesting non-US license plate on that 57 ! other cars in pic and scooter appear to be British made. 57 is LHD though. I wonder if this could have been shot on the Bahamas.
the 36 3w above is just pure class !

   What I find interesting in quite a few of these photos are people posing in front of their pride and joy. Even back then a 56 Ford wagon was just a utilitarian vehicle to get the family from point a to b, throw groceries in the back, building supplies or even go camping. They were generally just run into ground and replaced every 4-5 years anyways. I just cant see myself standing in front of our 2014 Escape with the family for picture.........maybe I should.
