   That could be Lumpy and  his  40 convertible.
   Didn't Mr + Mrs Cleaver refer to the 40 as an old junk box or something like that?

As some of you know, I have been working on this 57 Bird, and as I began to wrap up the project, I noticed it had a little vibration at idle. Well it ended up having a bad balancer: it was wobbling and beginning to pull apart.
as you can see from the pic, it was pretty beat up:



No biggie, I figured I'd pull it and replace it. I had no idea the Bird Y blocks used a different balancer than our cars and that it required a special puller. I called several board members here figuring that one of them would have a puller but to no avail. I finally found someone who had a new one for $45 and I grabbed it. It's pretty nice for the money actually.



I was able to locate a balancer for $175, pretty reasonable I thought. It even came with a speedy sleeve:



For those of you who aren't familiar with the bird balancer and puller, it actually fits in the two slots in the pulley and actually pulls from the pulley:



Anyways, if any of you guys need one, I have one you can borrow.

  I would have loved to have this car for a family vacation in 1971. I could almost hear one of the kids in the back asking dad to pass the string of cars on an uphill section of road, with father

  calming replying  " no problem son".
