I was going through an old Craftsmen tool chest that I have had since I was 14 years old the other day. I kept it in my old garage and brought it home years ago but never really did anything with it; my plan was to double check the 100's of wrenches as well as other tools to see if there was anything I might still want before I gave it to my stepson.

I came across an old Ford 1909-27 Model T Band Adjusting Wrench, #1917U that I thought was pretty cool.
I know they aren't worth much, but figure it was still worthwhile keeping as a conversation piece.

I'm sure that most of you are, but for those not familiar; they are used to adjust the internal nuts on the Model T reverse and brake bands. These are only under light tension from the springs on the trans shafts between the band ears, and so the tools are of very light construction. If you were to use one as a normal wrench, it would certainly stretch and/or break.  If you look closely at the second pic, the ends have been stretched open.
When I was fourteen years old, I was amazed at how unintelligent my father was. By the time I turned twenty-one, I was astounded at how much he had learned in the last seven years!

I was at the Langley Loafers Old Time Drags on the weekend, lots of Ford power.  The dragster was the only nitro car there.
