When I was fourteen years old, I was amazed at how unintelligent my father was. By the time I turned twenty-one, I was astounded at how much he had learned in the last seven years!

That is Dwain Kremyr`s 57 Thunderbird, back in 1978, at Mission Raceway. It was powered by a high port headed Boss 302 with a Doug Nash 5 speed. It the 60s, it was powered by a Chrysler Hemi, when Dwain bought the Bird in the early 70s, he ran a 427 Ford in it. The car hasn`t seen the dragstrip since 1978, but Dwain still owns it, and was planning on building an all aluminum 427 SOHC for it, and putting it back on the street.
1959 Meteor 2 door sedan , 428 Cobra Jet 4 speed. Been drag racing Fords (mostly FEs) 47 years and counting.
Previous 50s Fords include 57 Custom 4 door, 2 57 Ford Sedan Deliveries, 59  Country Sedan, and as a 9 year old, fell in love with the family 58 2 door Ranch Wagon.

I remember seeing it back in the day at Mission . I also saw it absolutely destroy the third member on the starting line one time. Pulled the whole pinion assembly out of the case. What a mess. Looks black in the picture, I thought it was brown with Kreymr Brothers lettering, could have been later in its race days?

Yes, Mission Raceway Park is in Mission, British Columbia.  Opened in the mid-60's, then moved about 1/2 mile from the original track.  There were some hiccups in the relocation but it worked out.  The track is right beside the Fraser River, so they dredged fill onto the property and then cut a deal with the Operating Engineers training program and had rollers and graders running up and down for around 5 years, so we have a very smooth track that sits at 25 above sea level.  Once held the Top Fuel and Funny Car national records, some big name US drivers would come up and test the week prior to the Seattle national event.
I sold popcorn there back in the 60's, and got to push start a couple cacklefest cars at the Hot Rod Reunion three years ago with my flathead powered Mercury.

Randy, yes, before Dwain built the new chassis and painted the T Bird red, it was brown, and had "Kremyr Bros" lettered on the doors, and "Kerrisdale Speed Center" & "S.Morita Auto Body Service". Dwains brother Barry was involved with the T Bird, and they used a Ford 427 that Barry originally had for his 58 Ford, in the Thunderbird. Barry was a body man at Sandy Moritas body shop, which was well known for high end show cars, restorations, etc. In the above photo, it is bright red, and must have been fairly early in the 1978 season, as shortly afterwards, it had "Old Pro" lettered on the doors. I have photos of the car while it was brown, that I took at the 1976 Mission points meet, and a photo of it red, with the "Old Pro" lettering, but I have never been able to post photos from my phone to this site.

Kind of puts a smile on my face seeing swaps like this. Very frowned upon by the bow tie brigade though.
