I do live in the country.   I walked to my neighbor's property, and older guy I call "Jimbo".  Jim is the one who said he would sell me the Ford, he's the one who towed it over to my property.    But...there's a problem.  His son, who is a....well, we won't go into it, opposes the sale, and I think it's because he wants everything he can  inherit  from Daddy.

Tonight, when I went over the to get the title , Jim was in a very bad mood, all related to his son.  First, he said the replacement engine, which I could not find, was where I last saw it.  It most certainly was not.

Then, He said he was too busy to find the title for the car.

Tomorrow I will go by his property with my C***vy S-10 to help him move crap around...and we're gonna settle this ****.

Sign the title over to me or come and get the car and I will cancel payment on the check, and look for another '57.  The problem is....I love this one.

that is a mess. sorry to hear about it. Maybe his son got confused by the TV car restoration soaps and by now thinks its a 20 k car or what not....these days it is very difficult to make straight deals with persons around, that do not understand a project car, how much work is involved to get it running and how different its value might be from a fully restored or even other body model of the same year.
maybe you can increase your offer a bit, worst case. this wagon is sweet and needs to be brought back on the road by someone knowledagable enough like you.
Good Luck !

Thanks guys.  It's all small potatoes in the long run.  It's raining today so I won't be going over to Jim's.  I'll call him later and see what kind of mood he's in.

DONE!!!!  Certificate of title and bill of sale, all signed.

She's mine!!!

Now, to get the garage rebuilt, the previous home owner made the garage into a granny flat.  It's going back to being a garage.

Happy, happy, happy,

Cool! What about the replacement engine he had?

Cecil

Thanks everybody.  I can't help but say that I am absolutely GIDDY, over the moon.  And the great thing is that all of you understand what this means.

I am gonna bring this Ford back to her former glory, she has someone who will make her run, and shine, again.

More pics are coming, it does have some rust but nothing that is all that serious.  Hell, when I worked in a body shop I helped replaced a '65 Mustang Fastback trunk floor, I know about rust.

I will be pestering everyone one here with restoration pics.  My intention is to simply make her my daily driver, if I can get the other engine and rebuild it it's all good.  I I have to shop for another motor, then a 390 sounds good to me.  We'll just have to see how it works out.

All I know is that I now have the car of my dreams, the project car I have been searching and dreaming of for years.  And now it's time to build out my garage, to put that Ford into it, and spend my nights in automotive heaven.

I didn't discuss that with him today.  The main thing was to get the title, and i was a bit distracted by his Chihuahua, T-Bone.  He's a 3 pound junk yard dog who has become my friend, and when T-Bone asked to be petted....the rest of the world goes away, ya know?

I hope my ranting in this thread doesn't give anyone the impression that Big Jim is a bad guy.  He's not.  He's the epitome of a helpful and wonderful neighbor, I just let my frustration get the better of me.

What is it going to take for  you to get the spare engine?
