Hello Everyone, It?s been awhile, thought I would share the further adventures of my 57.... Florida allowed me to finish the interior but retirement there got OLD!! So we packed up and moved closer to the grandkids, Missouri... First picture is the driver loading in Florida, next new home. May the project continue..

RICH MUISE

Good looking ride! I should know this, but what exactly is the side trim....lower part of the 300 trim?
I can do this, I can do this, I, well, maybe

Hello Rich, when I found this car , 21 yrs ago, in a barn, all stainless was in the trunk, there where only holes in the fender, door, body for this trim.. As far as I was told this 57 custom 300 started life as a Ohio cop car, can?t prove that, but no sign of holes being filled on the doors and the front fenders are fiberglass, I like the look !! Stock I don?t know?

Well at least it is moving  :003: Strange Custom, Looks like Fairlane front winshield trim and a Fairlane rear bumper. I think that side trim was only used on Ranchero/wagons

Pretty sure that side trim was used on very early Custom 300s. I saw it in the parts book somewhere.

I have seen one with trim like that in Dawsonville Ga. , I was told it was available on Custom 300 solid color cars.

Hello everyone, when I brought the 57 home the only thing I knew about it was in high school a guy had one I liked the rest I have learned on this site from the knowledge of the members and I am thankful you guys share that!! Again thanks for the education and information.

Seating here looking at the side trim , a few years ago I had the car out and an older gentleman stopped by said he had a 57 when he was younger and that my 57 had the California thin line trim package, said nice car and walked away. Never really thought about that till now, anybody know? Thanks for the interest, now I know she?s part 1958....

Don't know about the different designations, but the Custom 300 was sure available with the single trim. as well as the Ranchero and wagons. on the wagons they called the golden anodized and double trim style line. the lower 6pssgr Country sedan would have the single trim only and one solid color all over. maybe the double trim / anodized aluminium only came wiht Custom 300 with twotone paint ?
Can you tell us the paint code from your VIN tag. it should give a good clue to what we are looking here.

The 58 rear bumper and windshield trim looks great on your car, wheather it came that way from factory or not ! beautiful and sporty looking car !

hiball3985

DJ, the custom 300 with double trim came on solid paint cars also. Here is my first 57 in 1966 and it was all original except the tires and I painted the rims black.

Thanks, the tag reads. 70B  CF  E  when I found this 57 both inside and out was in similar primer, no real sign of original colors. So maybe Dresden Blue and Starmist Blue, would the E code be interior color?

RICH MUISE

Could you post a pic of the tag so we can see exactly where that "E" is...keep your fingers crossed it's NOT the interior code
I can do this, I can do this, I, well, maybe

rmk57

E would be the basic starmist chain interior.
