I have a warped front drum and none of the local parts houses sell them.  Are there any more modern drums that work (11? with 5x4.5 bolt pattern). Thanks!

Through out the years playing with these cars no one has come up with a replacement drum for the front?  Will a rear drum fit the hub?  Given they are not available I would give serious consideration to swapping in a disc conversion.

I think the rear drum are more shallow (11x2).  I?m definitely considering a disk brake conversion, I just wish it was easier to do while keeping my stock wheels.

My 57 4dr Fairlane 500 has much deeper brake drums on it than original. When I went to rebuild the brakes I bought what was listed for 57. The shoes were way narrow for the drums on my car. Mine has something like 11x3 on the front and slightly narrower on the back. I think it worked out that they were 64 brakes??????????????. Stops on a dime without too much pressure and they are manual brakes.

You might be on to something!  1964 Galaxy 500 front drums are 11x2.5.  I wonder if the same backplates will fit?

The 60 wagon I had had front brakes that were 3", 61 - 63 Birds too.  While pondering what to do I found the backing plates from the 60 would swap out to the 57, might be the same for the 64?  Decided to go with disc in the end.....

I?ve seen that part number DB2612 for the fronts.  I saw an older post where someone tried them and the hub didn?t fit.

The '64 spindle, backing plate, hub and drum will fit the '57 upper and lower control arms while still maintaining the 14" wheels.

I appreciate everyone?s help!  It looks like disk brakes might be in my future.

You can use 61-64 frt brakes,  use the whole thing ball joint to ball joint.

Regular cars are 11x2.5",  Wgns, police, taxi and hipos used 11x3".

Good luck,

Ron.
