Certainly not trying to sabotage this great group, but despite having owned 3 various 57 Fords before muscle cars and drag racing consumed all my car time (and $$$$), I thought I should finally show my 59 to the group. My very first car was a 59 station wagon in the early 70s, and it seems that as one gets older, first car memories return. I bought this 1959 Meteor Niagara 300 Tudor sedan from a good buddy in 2002, as a rough, but running and drivable project, in 2002. It was mechanically functioning, but very tired, 332 FE V8 , 2 speed FordOMatic, with manual steering and brakes. For those unfamiliar with Meteors, they were a Canadian model, based on a Ford, and sold through Mercury dealers, from 1949 thru 1961. In 1962, Ford came out with the new intermediate size Fairlane, along with the Mercury equivalent, called the Meteor. Since the US Meteor was available in both the USA and Canada, the Canadian Meteor was discontinued. After Ford dropped the Meteor nameplate at the end of 1963, the Canadian Meteor was reborn for 1964, but new based on a full sized Mercury platform, although the Meteor used a Ford dashboard, and after 64, a Ford roof as well. For the most part, the 49 thru 61 Meteors were essentially a Ford with a unique grill, and depending on the model year, different side trim and ornamentation. Since my favourite 57 Fords tended to be the "low line" Custom short wheelbase series, I decided that I would build my 59   maintaining its "cheapo" image, but with more power, in the sleeper style. Thus the dog dish hubcaps, on steel wheels, but with a warmed over 428 Cobra Jet engine and Toploader 4 speed. Kinda like one of my old 1969 Fairlane Cobras, but in a 10 year older platform. I hope that I will finally be able to start driving it later this month, and make a few passes down the dragstrip before winter

Since I have been drag racing since the mid 70s, and the vast majority have ben FEs, I have aquired quite a few 428 s over the years. This particular 428CJ is one that I bought over 30 years ago, its still standard bore with the original "428 Super" pistons, and standard 1UB crank , these Cobra Jet heads I bought in 1975. After having a bunch of FE stuff stored in the garage al these years, I may as well enjoy it, rather than save it for somebody to buy from my widow, once I croak. I have been thinning out some of the excess FE stuff this year, since I recently moved, but I should have enough left to tide me over in my retirement, unless somebody wants it really bad!

Beautiful car! Reminded me of a friend who had a '59 Ford, same color blue (maybe) no tutone. He and his dad pulled the 6 and put in a 390/ Fordomatic. Inspired me to put a 390 in my Fairlane which grew to a 428.
