1957 Ford Fairlane used in Mercedes tailfin car design studio

Here is something noteworthy imho. I always found the tailfin era Mecedes ( 1959-1968) pleasing to the eye and bought a comprehensive book about them. Here's what I found ! ( I don't want to infringe the copyight so I just took some blury photos, but you'll get the point).
The Mecedes design was started in late 1956, when our 57 Fords were already available. I found it interesting that Mercedes compared the technical data with Opel, Borgward and other middle/upper class European 6 cylinder cars, but they went overseas to 'borrow' some design ideas. The Benz cars in those pics are still pre production prototypes with slightly larger fins, but there is no denial about the similarity in proportion and looks.
