Turn signal cancel 1959

I've had no lunch whatsoever getting this to work. I've been that guy with the left blinker on. The FE and shifting gears keeps me busy.

These are the old plastic springs which I drilled out the rivets. I tried riveting the white type of cancel cam on, but that doesnt work either.
