I hate to say it but I'm most case nowadays it's best to to just register your no title  Fairlane with a Bill of sale from the previous owner and have a VIN verification done.  Check your local DMV or AAA DMV.

I recently had my Fairlane titled properly with a registration service in my state. 

There is reason why the HAMB doesn't allow "historical docs" be sold.  Also there is 100% no guarantees so good luck.
