cancel cam for 58/59 steering wheel

Hello Members  Trying to gather parts for a borgeson PS box  with stock 57 wheel and horn ring, have a 59 column with internal parts. Lalessi1  (post)thought someone was remaking the cancel cam for 58 up steering wheel. Dennis C has one for a 66 to 77 Bronco C77Z-13318A that looks like what I need. Rep had no clue if it would fit my wheel.  Also need carbon/spring/brass connector, see them in catalogs but don't know if they would work. The days of going wrecking yard are over in my neck of woods. Thanks for any info. Bill Oregon

I would bet money on it fitting. I have a Grant wheel on a generic Ford adapter kit. The '59 cam I have fits on that. The '57s and the '59s interchange for a fact. I actually took one off an Edsel wheel and it fit too.

COS, depending on where you live in Oregon, "All American Classics" auto wrecking, just across the Columbia River Bridge from Portland,in Vancouver Washington , may have what need. I was there last in 2019, and at that time, they had 14 59 Fords, 9 57 Fords, not sure how many 58s.
1959 Meteor 2 door sedan , 428 Cobra Jet 4 speed. Been drag racing Fords (mostly FEs) 47 years and counting.
Previous 50s Fords include 57 Custom 4 door, 2 57 Ford Sedan Deliveries, 59  Country Sedan, and as a 9 year old, fell in love with the family 58 2 door Ranch Wagon.

To use the '59 turn signal mechanism in a '57 Column you do have to drill two addition mounting holes in the'57 column plate.   The '59 turn signal retaining screws go through in a slightly different area than the '57.   Be warned that you may need a very good drill bit as the base plate seems very hard metal to get a bit started and drill thru.   

Nearly everything is available repo now(not all from same vendors and the '59 assembly with the ring can be costly).  The '59 cancel cam I do not believe is available in repo so it may need sourced of an original '59 steering wheel.    Seems like there are '58 -59 style wheels on ebay regularly to get the black sleeve location and cancel cam.  . Adding a '59 turn signal assembly plus drilling a hole in the steering wheel(similar to '58/'59) and add the black plastic bushing and spring is a great way to get the horn working as a '59 would and not having to find an original '59 column.    The only hang up is that it's really nice to have a '59 example to look at while doing the conversion the first time.

A '58 horn plate can be added to a '57 column but requires lengthen the upper column tube by about 5/8" and clamping a '58 style horn plate disc.   I've done this as well to '57 column as well.
