I have an Edelbrock 1406 on my 57 292, in my Skyliner. I did not pick this setup as it came with the car. Anyhow, I have been fighting a bog when I give move the accelerator quickly, either from idle or otherwise. I have replaced the pump and moved the linkage to the top hole.  This seemed to help a little. I think the carb may be ten years old.

My friend just installed a similar newer version on his Chev 350. He has the same problem.

I just Googled this problem and got a lot of hits. Has anyone else experienced this problem with this line of carburetor ?

I would say. If it can't be tuned it time for clean up and rebuild but if your price it out a new carb is like only 100.00 more. So get yourself a new carb same model do the basic set up and drive.  Sell the old one for 100.00. Call it a day.
Literally did that with mine.  It idles nice and is a reliable starting car now.  1 less think to guess on.
