That there is pretty funny and a few people in the crowd thought the same. :005:

They claimed that these things were so hard to handle on the dragstrip once the front wheels were unloaded, that you didn't drive the car, you basically pointed the car in the direction you wanted it to go. If you look at the pics of Tony Stoer's CSX2019 AC Cobra, (one of only eight cars modified with the Shelby-developed Dragonsnake package, 5 by Shelby, 3 privately) you will notice that driver is not listed on the door, but "Aimer" instead.

"Shelby provided a Cobra, with the stipulation that the work and racing had to be done by the employees on their own time and with minimal support from Shelby. CSX2019 was modified extensively for quarter-mile use. With Stoer at the wheel, it set the AHRA A/SSP record with a 12.81 at 108.95 mph run. The Dragonsnake package was born, and it became a factory option."

When I was fourteen years old, I was amazed at how unintelligent my father was. By the time I turned twenty-one, I was astounded at how much he had learned in the last seven years!

Aimer....  I guess that there really was something to that when they said that you have to aim them.   It took me a while to think about picture 2355 until I caught onto it.

How much will this 68 Mustang bring at the Meccum auction in January?  I'm sure somebody out there would like to own a piece of film history.

That trunk lid mounted antenna was I fairly common option here in the Northeast. It's on page 20 of the 1957 Ford & Thunderbird Accessories Book.
